Short Bio

I am a researcher specializing in the design and implementation of advanced search algorithms, Constraint Programming (CP), and Constraint Optimization Problem (COP) solving. My work focuses on tackling real-world, complex problems that often involve conflicting goals, a direct precursor to multi-objective optimization. My current role as a Research Project Leader for the MedLog (Medizin Logistik) project at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg centers on developing a robust, constraint-based back-end tool for optimizing medical appointment scheduling. This involves handling large, real-time search spaces and balancing multiple criteria, such as minimizing patient wait times and maximizing resource utilization, a practical application of multi-objective optimization techniques . I utilize the Choco solver (Java) for sophisticated modeling and effective constraint propagation. My PhD research and subsequent work provided a deep foundation in developing and implementing efficient data structures and algorithms in C++. This includes expertise in complex modeling and dynamic system simulation including determinstic, stochastic and hybrid simulation techniques, particularly using Coloured Petri Nets and fuzzy techniques to handle uncertainty and intricate biological system dynamics.
